So glad I found Big Mike's Boot Camp. Having recently moved to Palm Springs, I was looking for a challenging, motivating workout and I found it with Big Mike. Working out in the beautiful sunshine with the mountains as a backdrop is way better than being stuck in a gym and Mike is such a great trainer, he really knows his stuff.
I was lucky to find Big Mike’s Boot Camp online before our Palm Springs vacation. I have attended boot camps in my hometown for several years, and also several when I travel. Mike’s did not disappoint!
If you're looking for a welcoming group fitness environment and a REALLY good workout, Big Mike's Boot Camp is great. I went to his Saturday workout on 2/17 and was instantly impressed. Mike is extremely focused on teaching good form, and is efficient on time - making sure you get the most out of the hour or so you that spend with him.
If you want to hang out indoors and chat while pretending to break a sweat, join a gym. If you want to get a kick ass workout that produces results while hanging out with the dolphins on the sands of Santa Monica, join Big Mike's Boot Camp. It just doesn't get any better than starting your day on the beach with a fantastic group of people and a trainer who will keep you motivated and help you reach your fitness goals.
I joined Mike's beach workout with my wife about a month ago and we absolutely love it. Mike's workouts are a great way to start the day (we do 6am) but we also like the flexibility of 3 different classes.
Big Mike's class was fun and hard. I've done lots of group fitness classes and this was one of the best. As a new student, Mike gave me some extra attention to make sure I was comfortable and doing the exercises correctly. It's quite the set-up for a beach class.
This gorgeous Palm Springs morning was the day I decided to take my 1st Big Mike's Boot Camp. (Some history for context; I'm a 56 year old man carrying 15 extra lbs with shoulder and knee issues). Upon arrival, Mike warmly welcomed me and started the warmup. Mike explained the course and started the class.

Big Mike's BC is my first exercise program since I stopped including cardio and cross fit in my exercise routine several years ago. His all-inclusive approach challenged each of us to push ourselves to our individual limits. It was both exhausting yet fun and the beautiful Palm Springs setting is spectacular!
Mike is a gifted instructor who pushes you while being incredibly encouraging. And the location is unlike any other. You won't regret it!
It's hard to oversell how awesome Big Mike's is. Would've never guessed that I could get up at 5:30, bike up to Santa Monica and then workout. But I've done it consistently for 5 months and it has changed everything. Love being barefoot in the sand, love being outside and not in a gym, love the variety of workouts, love Mike's attitude and encouragement. If you're on the fence, just do it. You won't regret it.

A Santa Monica sunrise beach workout with an unbelievable trainer. I have been working out with Big Mike for 5 months now. Super motivational, mixes things up to keep you interested, and offers 3 different time slots, so makes it easy if you have a busy work schedule.

This is a terrific community.
I say community because it's much more than a "class". I'm a workout class junky and typically, these fitness routines are somewhat impersonal. You pay your monthly dues, show up, sweat, go home. Repeat. Not with Mike's. It sounds cheesy, but I've never felt so welcome from the get-go.
This is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time! I signed up for this with a friend of mine through groupon and it has been so worth it. Bike Mike is awesome, his workouts are great, lots of variety, always keeps you working hard and always pushes you. He knows your name from the day you start class, it's pretty amazing how much he actually cares about you as an individual.

I can't express enough how amazing and life changing this experience is. I use to be super athletic and have slipped away from that over the past couple years. In the past year I have tried everything from different gym memberships to trend setting classes and nothing compares or completes your needs like Big Mike's Boot Camp.

Star One: The location. I live in Beverly Hills but waking up at 6am to get to the 7am class isn't an issue! I can't wait to spend my morning on the beautiful beach of Santa Monica!
This is hands down my favorite workout I've ever done... And I've tried it all! I thought I would try out the groupon and then move onto the next thing, as I've done in the past getting bored after about a month. But I got hooked. Fast forward a year later, I still love it and continue to see myself gain strength and endurance.

This review is long overdue! I can't write enough great things about BIG MIKE'S ULTIMATE BEACH WORKOUT! It truly is the ultimate workout! I was first introduced to the workout through Groupon and purchased the 2 month option. I remember feeling intimidated by the idea of working out on the sand. That idea quickly left once I met Mike and had orientation...I was hooked! I've been a client for over a year and absolutely love it!
If I could give Mike 10 stars or more I would! I bought a two month Groupon to try it out and after my 2 month were over I was hooked! The name says it all folks! Without a doubt this is the ULTIMATE beach workout! I started Mike's classes back in July and within the first week I knew I had found something special. I started off with a 2-month trail and just signed up for an additional 6-months! I am hooked and very happy with my results so far.

If you’re like me, you have held a membership at every gym in town at some point. You make the promise in the beginning of the year to work out 3 - 4 times a week and eat healthier, but life gets in the way and there is never enough time in the day (so you tell yourself). Enter Mike...
I can’t say enough good things about this class, and specifically, Mike. Unlike other classes, Mike gives you personalized attention, ensures you are always challenging yourself, promotes good posture (something I have always struggled with), and is genuinely encouraging and high energy throughout class.
My fiance and I opted for the early class. Class starts at 6:00am and each class is something different (one of the main reasons I love this class). One day you’re running in intervals from the incline at California all the way to the pier while mixing in body resistance exercises and the next day you’re doing a circuit of strength and core exercises with sandbags. He mixes up the routines every class which keeps you guessing and keeps things interesting.
After my first class, it was pretty clear that I was out of shape and I was a little discouraged by my lack of conditioning. By the end of the first full week I was sore, but already feeling more comfortable with the exercises and the idea of the class. A month in, and there were noticeable increases in my energy, strength and conditioning. Mike measures you month-to-month and charts your progress along the way, which gives me the one thing I desperately need...accountability.
Accountability has a snowball effect. I work my ass off early in the morning, so I’m less likely to grab a donut or a bagel at work. By the time lunch rolls around, instead of hitting the greasy food trucks, I get a salad or healthy sandwich. I’m chugging water all day (and I never drink water), and usually end the night with something simple like fish or chicken. After stringing together a few weeks of healthy eating and intense workouts, the results come quickly, and you don’t want to go back to gym hopping.

“Big Mike’s Ultimate Beach Boot Camp is awesome! We have a different sequence of exercises every week and every month, which helps with working out different groups of muscles. Mike attempts to meet each person’s individual goals, and always gives an option for you to challenge yourself. Mike is great on giving you modified exercises, if you have some kind of injury, as long as you are willing to do the work out and show up to classes consistently. He also provides you with the tools you need to meet your personal goals. You will see good results in your body, if you stick to the program. I haven't worked out consistently since high school. Like some other people here I started out with a groupon deal because I wasn't sure I would be able to consistently exercise based on my track record.
