Getting Healthier with Massage Therapy

Hello fellow boot campers! This is Amy J, new to UBW and thrilled to be a part of this awesome community. Health and wellness are topics I'm very passionate about as I have worked as a massage therapist for the past 10 years. I started my career working on many athletes and trainers at Equinox West Hollywood where I specialized in deep tissue and sports massage. Now I work for the Four Seasons at the Spa at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel where I continue to work in sports, deep tissue and primarily Aromatherapy.

As we take to the sand every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to reach our fitness goals, remember the importance of aftercare. This is something that is easy to over look and also easy to implement into your routines! To avoid injury Mike instructs us to use proper form, warm up before class and attend the extra workshops on stretching and foam rolling. This aspect of our workout is just as important as the effort we put into that 60 minute burn.

There are other routines you can adopt to maintain the level of wellness you are after as well! Having regular massage helps eliminate stress, increase circulation, reduce lactic acid in the muscles and maintain flexibility. Addressing these issues are crucial to helping your body maintain the healthy, balanced environment it needs to operate the way it's meant to.  Receiving a massage also requires zero effort and feels great! And here is a sweet deal for any of you boot campers interested in reaping the many benefits of massage therapy…
